A Fugitives Tale

In 1886, a fourteen-year-old Apache girl was falsely accused of killing her rapist white father, a prominent rancher in Tucson. She’s on the run, pursued by his sons. Secretive and alone, she avoids capture for fifty years until, in 1934, she bonds with a woman who becomes the first person to hear her incredible story. Shortly after, she comes face-to-face with a truth that changes everything.

This new novel, about Hattie Blue, is definitely worth reading. RW Bennett has written a well-crafted tale that is hard to put down. The tragic events, which led the main character to lead an unusual and nomadic life, caused me to reflect on the cruelty that native Americans were subjected to. The author’s extensive research and his personal experiences as a rancher give credibility to this very good book. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy historical fiction.
